Bathroom storage ideas that keep a small room usable
Good storage is not the largest vanity that fits. It is enough well-placed space for the things you use, without making the room harder to move around or clean.

Take an inventory first
List the everyday items you want close to the basin and shower. Separate those from spare towels, bulk supplies and things that could live elsewhere. Measure tall bottles and larger appliances rather than assuming a drawer will hold them. This gives the furniture a real job and helps prevent buying storage simply to fill a gap.
Check inside the vanity
Drawer dimensions can be reduced by pipework or the shape of the basin. Review internal clearances alongside the external measurements. Check handles and door openings against the toilet, shower screen and entrance door. Wall-hung furniture can give a more open appearance, but suitability and fixings need to be checked for the wall and chosen unit.
Use height with care
A mirror cabinet can bring small items close to hand. Check its projection, the viewing position and any nearby light fittings. Open shelves are useful for items you want to see, but they need regular tidying and cleaning. Avoid placing everyday items somewhere that requires stretching over a bath or wet floor.
Build storage into the room plan
Decide the furniture position before plumbing and lighting are finalised. If you like a recessed shelf or niche, discuss its construction and wet-area detailing with the fitter. Keep service access practical and ask how finishes will meet the storage. Storage works best when it belongs to the original layout, rather than becoming an extra unit squeezed in at the end.
